SO WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ROBOTS (AIR) ALL ABOUT? WHO NEEDS IT AND WHY?

Is it complicated to build and what are the applications for such a product?

Starting at what makes it all possible is the key element for it to even exist at all and that is data, data, data! Without it Artificial Intelligence (AI) would not work.

The robot learning methods fall into four main areas:

SEMI SUPERVISED LEARNING – is where supervised learning tasks and techniques also make use of unlabelled data for training, mixing a small amount of labelled data with a larger amount of unlabelled data. By putting these two types of data together, researchers have found that Artificial Intelligence Robots (AIR) develop better learning accuracy. It is also much more cost effective.

SUPERVISED LEARNING – at present around 70% of Artificial Intelligence development is supervised learning algorithms “trained” to use labelled examples where the desired output is known. Supervised learning is very often considered when historical data is used to predict probable future events.

UNSUPERVISED LEARNING – unsupervised machine learning currently amounts to around 10 to 15% of machine learning, although that figure is increasing quickly. This type of machine learning is where the Artificial Intelligence Robot uses unlabelled examples i.e. the machine is not aware of a correct answer and that tries to find its own way based on the input data it has received with no supervised target outputs, nor any rewards. Given the machine received no feedback how it could learn, the theory in its goal would be to build knowledge from the input that could be used in decision making, predicting future inputs and perhaps communicating these to other sources

REINFORCEMENT LEARNING – This is where the Artificial Intelligent Robot will interact with an environment and where the Artificial Intelligent Robot will learn from the consequences of its actions rather than being explicitly taught (trial and error). It will base its actions on previous data experiences and by new input striving to receive rewards, or indeed punishments should the result not be correct. The Artificial Intelligent Robot would be looking to obtain maximum reward over a period of time learning.
